Muhammad was a prophet of God. Muhammad became a prophet when he went to go pray in a cave in the mountains in about 610 C.E. But while he was praying in the cave, he was called to be a prophet by whom the Arabs called Allah. It was the angel Gabriel. Muhammad taught the teachings of monotheism, the belief in one God. God told Muhammad to teach others about treating people with compassion, honesty, and justice. Most Arabs responded to Muhammads teachings by rejecting his teachings and not following them.

 The First Pillar: Shahadah, Belief.

The Second Pillar: Salat, Worship.

The Third Pillar: Zakat, Almsgiving.

 The Fourth Pillar: Siyan, Fasting.

 The Fifth Pillar: Hajj, Pilgrimage.

The Quran is the Holy Book of Islam. Through the Quran God describes his laws and moral teachings. The Sunnah is the example that Muhammad set for Muslims during his lifetime. They are related to the Five Pillars of Faith because the Quran provides general commands to perform these five duties. The Sunnah explains how to preform them using Muhammads example. They are related to Shari ' ah because Muhammad explained the Quran and served a judge. The Sunnah was to solve problems as they arose.
